The Oak Park, Oakville community was built as an urban concept community by Tribute Homes with homes built closer to the street and 2 car detached garages at the rear of the home, accessed by a laneway. It started in 1996 and ended in 2000 with 3 phases being a mix of freehold townhomes, semi detached and detached homes. The model types and names changed as the phases proceeded and while the exteriors may look the same, the interiors have variations. (There is also an ongoing condo development with highrise condominium buildings and condo townhomes which I will discuss separately at a later date.)
For example, the Crescent I model became the Norwich model in later phases. The Crescent II became the Norham, and the Crescent III became the Newcastle. The Nottingham was added in later phases as a larger version of the Norwich layout.
While many people think the semis of Oak Park are very similar, there are differences in the models. Let’s be more specific. There are 2 storey semis which range in square footage from 1,213 to 1,486. There are only a few 2 storey semis. The more popular option was the 3 storey semi. The square footage started at 1,612 and went to 2,126. A coach house (a second story above the garage) will add 393 square feet to the homes total square footage.
The builder also offered the option of the 3rd floor being either a loft or a master retreat. In the master retreat option (a $5,000 upgrade), the extra space on the 3rd floor allowed for a 4 piece ensuite that included a soaker tub and a separate showerstall. The family room was located on the 2nd floor was were 2 other bedrooms, a 4 pc main bath and the laundry room. In the loft option, all 3 bedrooms were located on the 2nd floor with the smaller 4 piece ensuite and a 4 pc main bath. The laundry room is located in the basement with this option.
The main floor layouts all contain a living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast area and powder room. The Crescent II, Norham and Nottingham models have an open concept, offset living room and dining room with a corner fireplace in the living room. The kitchen has a centre island with breakfast bar and is combined with the Breakfast area.
The Crescent I and Norwich main floor layout has a combined Living and Dining room area. The kitchen has a centre island and is combined with the breakfast area/family room which has a corner fireplace.
The Crescent III and Newcastle main floor layout has a combined Living and Dining room area. The kitchen has U-shaped cabinets with a raised breakfast bar, a combined breakfast area and a separate family room with a fireplace. An upgrade option was available for the Newcastle with an L-Shaped kitchen and a centre island.
